The Four Musketeers 360km Time Trial....

On 31 August, The Four Musketeers will attempt to complete a 360km team time trial in Sydney’s Centennial Park in under 10 hours.  If you are in Sydney, come help them along!

Starting at 6.00am, the ride will aim to raise awareness for Redkite’s annual Sea 2 Summit Challenge set for Nov. 19.

Venue: Centennial Park Grand Drive start at and finish at the Restaurant
Time: 6.00am
Distance: 360km
Laps: 95
Riders: The Musketeers
Redkite Donations: www.everydayhero.com.au/fourmusketeers

The Musketeers are inviting all cyclists and cycling clubs in NSW to join them for one or more laps to help keep them motivated and bring awareness to Redkite, which supports children and young people with cancer and their families through the entire cancer journey.

John Mergler explains they came up with the idea after attending an information night about Redkite’s Sea 2 Summit Challenge.

'We were introduced to the great work that Redkite do for kids battling cancer. We are all committed to doing this ride in November … and we thought, ―What else we could do to promote the ride and also raise some more money and awareness for the cause?’
'As the Musketeers are an Eastern suburbs team supported by local sponsors…we thought it would be fitting to ramp up our training and ride a 360km team time trial in Centennial Park.'

John explains they chose 360km as it is twice the distance of the Ironman World Championship bike course; where they all will be representing Australia.

'One of the key factors in success at Ironman racing is mental strength to keep on going however arduous or painful it becomes; it also honours the mental and emotional strength that the children and their families affected by cancer display on a daily basis.'

The Sea 2 Summit Challenge covers 248 km, climbs a total of 5,500 meters and traverses some of the most stunning landscapes in south-east Australia. The ride starts on the Sapphire Coast at Merimbula Beach, located about halfway between Melbourne and Sydney. It ends at the summit of Australia’s highest mountain, Mount Kosciuszko. Sea 2 Summit cyclists have raised over $230,000 to ensure children and young people with cancer, and their families, can access Redkite’s practical and professional emotional, financial and education support services.

Deadline for Sea 2 Summit entry is Thursday, Sept. 1.
