TT Goodness

The Four Musketeers completed a critical couple of days training over the weekend. The aim was to get a solid amount of Time Trial work done and accomplish some good strong runs off the bike.

Saturday: The team took the new Scott Plasma’s out on a 180km ride allowing plenty of TT opportunities such as sublime point and Kurnell. The legs felt strong and the guys look fitter than ever. Back at Centennial, the team got straight into a 10k run at a cracking sub 4min/km pace followed by a 5km cool down.

Sunday: Heading straight for the flats of Kurnell, The Four Musketeers let rip on their Scott Plasma’s. Joined by Lisa Marangon, the team smashed up a 180km Time Trial. This was Lisa’s first long fast ride since starting ITU racing. Given she comes from an excellent pedigree being the Australian Series Half Ironman Champion, Lisa certainly held her own out there.  The Musketeers noted a HUGE Velosophy presence out at Kurnell reminding them how great it feels to be a part of the Velosophy movement.

Straight off the bike, the Musketeers commenced a very scenic run along the Cronulla foreshore.  This was the first run completed in new 2XU Compression Tri Shorts; and it definitely won’t be the last since the Musketeers glided through 30km in a very comfortable 2:10hrs

Speaking of 2XU – Vlad Shatrov – Proprietor of the 2XU Performance store in Paddington, had a spectacular run in the City to Surf, finishing in 12th place with a time of 44.45min. Well done Vlad!

Sundays glorious sunshine was the first real taste of hot weather to come. It is important for The Musketeers to get as much exposure to heat as they can in the next 6 weeks. Hawaii is known for its hot climate and those who have raced Kona will tell you that acclimatisation is key to performance. This is a very real challenge and something the Musketeers have discussed at length whilst finalising their race nutrition and hydration strategies.

This comming week is a big one. On Wednesday the guys will be completing their 360km Time Trial in Sydney’s Centennial Park.  The aim is to complete the TT in under 10hrs.  10hrs is a long lonely time on a bike, so come along and join in for a few laps or simply to cheer them on. This TT is all to raise awareness for Redkite and the Sea to Summit Challenge happening in November.  To donate, please visit www.everydayhero.com.au/fourmusketeers

This upcoming weekend will include Multi Sets, a Wisemans Loop, Calga TT, and some very strong runs.

They are fast, they are strong and they are ready for Kona. Look out for The Four Musketeers!

One for all...

The new Scott's are well looked after
